- Chance find, thought to be a hybrid between Eremophila maculata and E. splendens.
- Characteristics
- Dense upright shrub, 1.8m x 1m, large tubular red flowers. Rationale for selection: Eremophila maculata has similar roundish leaves and red to pink flowers while Eremophila splendens has large and hairy leaves has orange flowers.
- Cultivation
- Eremophila ‘Spitfire’ responds well to pruning which makes it an attractive dense shrub with spectacular flowering displays. It has been propagated vegetatively through several generations and has proven hardy in many districts.
