Origin
‘Great Balls of Fire’ arose as a chance seedling on the applicants property. Selection by the applicant was on the basis of its compact growth habit and the colour of its new foliage.
Characteristics
Growing to a height of 1.75m with a spread of 1.5m, C. 'Great Balls of Fire' was bred for its particularly dense compact habit and the intense red hues of its new emerging growth.
Cultivation
Select a sunny location in most soil types that are well draining. Regular pruning to shape, and being fed with a slow release fertiliser formulated for natives in spring is all that’s required to keep this plant looking it’s best in your garden. Flowers can occur, but typically do not in situations where the plant is pruned to shape. For hedging space plants up to 50cm apart.
