Cultivar Name
Ptilotus nobilis 'Purity'
Origin
A selection from a seed germination event. ‘Purity’ was selected for good plant form (upright stems and multiple branching) and pure green-cream inflorescence colour. Breeders: Margaret Johnston, Melinda Perkins, Dion Harrison, Daryl Joyce. PBR Status: Granted: 31-Aug-2009 Terminated: 27-May-2016 Characteristics
Characteristics
Herbaceous annual with feathery, green-cream flower heads. The flower heads are about 40 mm in diameter and up to 100 mm high on stems that grow to about 70 cm tall.
Cultivation
Prefers an open position in full sun in a well-drained soil. When planting, carefully remove from the pot to avoid disturbing the roots and plant in the hole so that the existing potting mix is slightly deeper than the surrounding ground level. Backfill the hole level with surrounding ground level and water in well. Requires minimal watering once established. Regularly prune after each flush of flowers to remove old flowering stems and apply a standard slow release fertiliser every 3 months to encourage a bushy habit and repeat flowering.
