Proteaceae
Cultivar Name
Grevillea 'Cherry Brandy'
Origin
Grevillea 'Cherry Brandy' is presumed to be an F2 of Grevillea 'Misty Pink', which is itself a hybrid of G. sessilis and G. banksii. Cultivar first received by the Authority in December 1981. The applicant is Mr D Burke, Archer Street, Roseville, NSW 2069.
Characteristics
Note: Specimen originally submitted as G. 'Pink Champagne This cultivar grows to a height of about 2-3m and a width of about 2m. The foliage is grey green and closely resembles that of G. sessilis. The leaves are about 15cm long and 11cm across. The flowers are mid pink shading to deep pink on the limb and are produced for most of the year. Each inflorescence is about 10cm long and 7cm across. Diagnosis: G 'Cherry Brandy' is very much like its parent differing mainly in flower colour. The leaves are similar to those of G. sessilis, appearing more compact because the lobes are closer together and smaller than in G. banksii and 'Misty Pink', the flowers are much darker pink than the pale pink of 'Misty Pink'. 'Cherry Brandy' also has red styles, unlike the orange ones of 'Misty Pink'. The inflorescence is the same size as in ' Misty Pink'. Notes This cultivar was originally submitted under the name Grevillea 'Pink Champagne' but this was changed by the applicant who has reapplied the name to another cultivar.
