The cross was made by Mr G Versace in 1983. The name alludes to the female parent and the flower colour of the cultivar. The cultivar was first received by the Authority in August 1986. Registration applied for by Mr G Versace of Townsville, Qld.

The main flowering season is spring and autumn though some flowers are found over most of the year.
