The normal diploid form of Anigozanthos 'Bush Ranger' is sterile, the tetraploid form is fertile. This cross was done by Dr R J Greisbach of the United States Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Maryland. Registration applied for by Dr R J Greisbach, Maryland, USA., January 1990.

The intensity of colour is temperature dependant, cooler temperatures result in deeper colour. The flowers are tubular and up to 60mm long. This cultivar flowers continually with no dormant period. Under this international program, this cultivarhas received wide publicity. The colchicine-induced tetraploidy procedurehas been published in the journal "HortScience" (Greisbach, R J 1990. AFertile Tetraploid Anigozanthos hybrid produced by In Vitro Colchicinetreatment. (HortScience 25:802-803).
