Origin
This cultivar arose as a chance seedling following bushfire in the garden of Neil and Wendy Marriott, Victoria on their property "Panrock Ridge". Thought to be a hybrid between Grevillea olivacea and G. commutata. First introduced to horticulture by White Gums Nursery, Stawell, Victoria around that time. The epithet is in memory of Nancy Marriott (1919-2018), life time member of the Australian Plants Society and mother of Neil Marriott.
Characteristics
A moderately dense, erect, light-green, fertile shrub 1-1.5 m high 1-1.5 m wide. Leaves simple to occasionally divided, 3–7 cm long, 0.6–1.1 cm wide, linear-elliptic in outline. Flower Colour. Perianth creamy-green; style pale pink; pollen-presenter green. Flowering period. Late winter–late spring. Distinctiveness: Grevillea olivacea has undivided leaves and pistils 22 to 30 mm long. Grevillea commutata is normally a larger shrub and has inflorescences greenish white to cream or pale pink. Similar hybrids. Grevillea ‘Winpara Gold’ is a far larger plant with mostly divided leaves and perianth white to creamy-white becoming apricot inside and out; style red; style end and pollen-presenter yellow
Cultivation
Grows well in full sun to dappled shade. Site in well drained acid to alkaline sands or sandy to clay loams. It is hardy to frost to at least -4 degrees C and hot dry summers including even drought. Despite its naturally compact habit it responds to light pruning or early autumn.
