- Origin
- This cultivar arose as a chance seedling following bushfire in the garden of Neil and Wendy Marriott, Victoria on their property "Panrock Ridge". Thought to be a hybrid between Grevillea olivacea and G. commutata. First introduced to horticulture by White Gums Nursery, Stawell, Victoria around that time. The epithet is in memory of Nancy Marriott (1919-2018), life time member of the Australian Plants Society and mother of Neil Marriott.
- Characteristics
- A moderately dense, erect, light-green, fertile shrub 1-1.5 m high 1-1.5 m wide. Leaves simple to occasionally divided, 3–7 cm long, 0.6–1.1 cm wide, linear-elliptic in outline. Flower Colour. Perianth creamy-green; style pale pink; pollen-presenter green. Flowering period. Late winter–late spring. Distinctiveness: Grevillea olivacea has undivided leaves and pistils 22 to 30 mm long. Grevillea commutata is normally a larger shrub and has inflorescences greenish white to cream or pale pink. Similar hybrids. Grevillea ‘Winpara Gold’ is a far larger plant with mostly divided leaves and perianth white to creamy-white becoming apricot inside and out; style red; style end and pollen-presenter yellow
- Cultivation
- Grows well in full sun to dappled shade. Site in well drained acid to alkaline sands or sandy to clay loams. It is hardy to frost to at least -4 degrees C and hot dry summers including even drought. Despite its naturally compact habit it responds to light pruning or early autumn.
