Origin
Hakea 'Gold Medal' is a variegated form of Hakea salicifolia that arose (as a sport) in cultivation. Registration applied for by Mr. B. Naylor, Kirrimar Nursery, Calamvale 4116.
Characteristics
The older foliage has cream to light green variegation. The new growth is rose pink for the species, though the main feature is the foliage.
Cultivation
Suitable for well drained soils. Best in a sunny site but will tolerate some shade. Frost resistant to -6C. Responds well to pruning.
