Family
Proteaceae
Cultivar Name
Grevillea 'Patricia Marie'
Origin
Grevillea 'Patricia Marie' is a seedling which shows strong affinities to G. banksii but as it arose in a garden where over sixty species of Grevilleas are grown it is impossible to be certain that some hybridization has not been involved. It has been growing in the garden of Mr Burt of Kingaroy, Queensland for the last four years.Cultivar received by the Authority 3 May 1977. Applicants: ECN and PM Burt.
Characteristics
The leaves are the same for G. banksii. The flowers are formed into large dense multiple clusters and these are produced terminally. Individual florets are pink and about 15mm long and the deep pink styles are about 45mm long. Diagnosis: This cultivar is different from the usual forms of G. banksii in its clustered shorter inflorescences. They do not taper form the base to the tip as does G. banksii.
Cultivation
This plant is very popular with nectar feeding birds and is suitable for well drained soil types. Prefers full sun but will tolerate dappled shade. Propagation: Cuttings or grafting onto suitable rootstock such as Grevillea robusta.
