Origin
Grevillea 'Poorinda Miriam' is a seedling from <G. 'Poorinda Blondie'. Cultivar received by the Authority on the 21st October 1975. Applicant is Mr. Leo Hodge of 'Poorinda', Mt Lookout Road, Bairnsdale, Victoria.
Characteristics
This cultivar is a tall, dense spreading shrub that grows + 3m high by +4m across. The leaves are deeply lobed and are + 115mm long by 25mm wide at the widest point. The individual lobes are pungent and 2-3mm wid. The upper surface of the leaves are light green while the underside is covered with dense silky hairs . The leaf edges are rolled under. The flowers are of the 'toothbrush'type and are borne in the leaf axils. The perianth is red and 5mm long whilst the prominent light pink styles are 25mm long with a yellow green stigma. The receptacle is slightly villous, and the peduncle is covered with light brown hairs. Diagnosis: This cultivar differs fron G. 'Poorinda Blondie' in that its leaves are more deeply divided and are only half as wide, and the flowers are a much deeper red in colour.
Cultivation
Suitable for most soil types. Best in a sunny site but will tolerate some shade. Frost resistant to -6C. Responds well to pruning.
