Origin
ORIGIN:Chamelaucium 'Bundara Mystic Pearl' was the result of a manipulatedcross between C. 'Bundara Excelsior' as the female parent and a white formof C. uncinatum as the male parent. The cross was performed by Mr D Gust ofBundara Nursery, Crows Nest, Queensland and was done with intention ofraising a prolifically flowering plant for the cut flower market. Cultivarreceived by the Authority2 September 1977. The applicant is Mr D Gust of Bundara Nursery, CrowsNest, Queensland.
Characteristics
The habit of this cultivar is similar to normal Chamelaucium uncinatum. The flowers are a pink mauve on opening fading to a very pale pink. Diagnosis: A very robust shrub with a large number of the flowers borne on the branch terminals. This cultivar was bred with the cut flower market in mind and the first crop attained a 4.5kg cutting. This crop rate was achieved at Bundara Nursery. The cultivar may be distinguished from other similar colour forms of C. uncinatum by the heavier crop of flowers.
Cultivation
Tolerates a wide range of growing conditions and soil types as long as they are well drained. Widely grown in suitable conditions throughout Australia. Drought tolerance good, frost tolerant if given some protection, light frosts are known to damage flowers and young growth.
