Origin
Grevillea 'Poorinda Constance' is assumed to be a hybrid between a New South Wales form of G. juniperina and a red flowered form of G. victoriae.
Characteristics
It can be expected to reach a height of about 4m. The leaves are shiny on the upper surface whilst being covered with short white hairs on the underside. Individual leaves are 2.5 - 3cm long and up to about 7mm wide and pungent. The edges are rolled under. The flowers are produced in clusters at the ends of short branchlets. Each flower is about 1cm long whilst the styles are 2cm long. The flowers are a clear red colour. Diagnosis: This cultivar resembles G. 'Poorinda Queen' but differs from it in having slightly larger leaves. Its leaves are 2.5 - 3cm long compared with G. 'Poorinda Queen' which has leaves measuring 2 - 2.5cm. It also differs in its flower colour. G. 'Poorinda Constance' has clear red flowers instead of apricot-pink flowers.
Cultivation
Suitable for most soil types. Best in a sunny site but will tolerate some shade. Frost resistant to -6C. Responds well to pruning.
